MD Sports Association and Montgomery County Department of Recreation are excited to offer a soccer league, which is affordable and accessible to every child in our community. Our goal is to get every participant maximum playing time throughout the game, while teaching correct fundamentals and the basic elements of strategy and fair play. What you need to know:

  • On the first day registered players will be placed on teams according to their age and skill level.  MD Sports coaching staff will conduct the initial clinic/practice on that day.  

  • Games will begin the following week.  

  • Practices will be held approximately 30 minutes prior to the game time, once the league play has started.  

  • Game times may vary and will depend on the number of participants/teams.  

  • Shin guards and cleats are mandatory for all soccer players age 5 and up.

  • Volunteer coaches are necessary for the success of the league.  

  • MD Sports staff will conduct clinics/practices and will provide officials for the games.  

  • Every participant will receive our signature t-shirt.

More Information:

Age group 3 and 4 year olds:  

Game format will be 3 v. 3.  Each game will consist of two 12 minute halves. Maximum number of players per team is 6.  Minimum number of players per team is 4.    No goal keepers.

Age group 5 and 6 year olds:

Game format will be 5 v. 5.  Cleats and shin guards are mandatory.   Each game will consist of two 15 minute halves.  Maximum number of players per team is 10.  Minimum number of players per team is 6.

Age group 7 and 8 year olds:

Game format will be 7 v. 7.  Cleats and shin guards are mandatory.   Each game will consist of two 20 minute halves.  Maximum number of players per team is 14.  Minimum number of players per team is 7.    

Age group 9 and 10 year olds:

Game format will be 7 v. 7.  Cleats and shin guards are mandatory.  Each game will consist of two 20 minute halves.  Maximum number of players per team is 14.  Minimum number of players per team is 7.
